The Federation's "Women's Philanthropy Lunch & Learn" at Arden Hills Club, February 2018

The Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region is a philanthropic, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides educational, cultural, and social services and programs within the Jewish community locally and around the world. The Federation movement, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and tzedakah (charity and social justice). We serve to empower and give a voice to the community and to the centrality of Israel to the Jewish people.

Our History

Founded more than 150 years ago by Jewish pioneers seeking peace and prosperity in a new land, the Jewish community of the Sacramento region has grown to more than 25,000 residents in a thirteen-county area. The Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region was incorporated in 1948 to connect Jews locally and globally, nurture our values, enrich our traditions, and strengthen our community through education, social action, and philanthropy.

The Federation provides ways for individual Jews to participate in communal responsibility and contribute to the well-being of others. Surviving the fires and floods of a tumultuous pioneer past and the firebombings of three synagogues in 1999, we pushed forward in hopes of building a golden age for the Jews in Sacramento's Central Valley.

In 2009, after a long history with its Wyda Way property, the Federation moved its offices to Midtown Sacramento. In 2013, we reinvested the funds from the sale of the Wyda Way property and purchased a new, permanent home at 2130 21st St., Sacramento.

We look forward to a long and prosperous future with the entire community.

Why Federation?

The Federation is dedicated to inspiring community members to secure the financial and human resources necessary to achieve the mission of caring for those in need, without discrimination.

The Federation system, comprised of Jewish Federations of North America, local Jewish Federations, and their overseas beneficiaries, work with a broad set of institutions that span the world to provide relief, rescue, and reconstruction.

The Federation has the infrastructure and experience to ensure your philanthropic donations are going directly to those who need it most, when they need it most.

The Federation supports and responds to community priorities, respecting and addressing individual differences and needs.

The Federation is best prepared to meet the challenges of local and global emergency issues that require a united front, such as responding to anti-Semitism or organizing rescue missions for Jews in danger.
